The Tealighter is a simple candle holder project aimed at Year 7-8. It introduces students to plywood as a design material. The project requires both creativity and accuracy. Students generate ideas by sketching and on computer, then follow a simple making process to produce their design.
This is designed as a fairly quick project. The results come quickly and there is a great deal of satisfaction in the final product. Teachers are supported with teaching notes that include tips and assessment outline. This project is easy to adapt to the particular needs of you classroom. It is ideal for either a first quick project of the year (to kick a quick goal) or as a 'filler' project at the end of the year because it can be compressed to the time available.
