New Ecolamp project resources now available

Ecolamp is a new project from designability that explores the creative possibilities of LEDs. This new technology is super efficient and very versatile. The project focuses on issues of energy use and sustainability while giving students the opportunity to develop their own creative ideas. As with most new technology designers want to find its true form. This hasn’t happened yet with LED strip lighting and so your students are presented with a great opportunity to invent a whole new style of lighting. Ecolamp is suited to Year 8 and up.

Affordable 3D printing in your classroom

Rapid prototyping has had a great impact in industry and now it’s your turn. The recent price breakthrough means that you can afford to bring this amazing technology to your classroom. The Rapman 3D printer extrudes plastic filament to build up layers of an object saved as a .stl file. From as little as $2299 +GST you can introduce your students to true desktop 3D printing.

New Jewellery project resources now available

Orders are now being taken for the following project kits:

1. Art Deco Ring -Jewellery Design - inspired by the Art Deco design movement, students will design a silver ring and be introduced to lost wax casting and polishing. Project resources include Teachers notes, Student handout, Video Intro, Video clips of making processes, Video interview with Art Deco expert, Brainstoming gallery, and powerpoint presentations.

2. Archi Pendant - Jewellery Design - inspired by the Sydney Opera House, students will design a pendant from brass and copper, and be introduced to soldering, joining and finishing techniques. Project resources include Teachers notes, Student handout, Video Intro, Video clips of making processes, Video interview with prominent Australian Jewellery designers 'Lewers and Larsen', Brainstoming gallery, and powerpoint presentations.
